Lifelong Learners at Brookes
This week all lower school staff participated in a BreakoutEDU Professional Development session. Breakout EDU creates ultra-engaging learning games for people of all ages.
BreakoutEDU is based on the game ‘Escape’ where you have to use critical thinking and deductive reasoning skills to break out of a room. The game is based on the same principles but you have to break into a box! Using this tool in the classroom allows students to develop essential skills that align with our IB Philosophy. It is a strategy that develops all 5 ATL skills in one activity. (Thinking, Social, Communication, Time Management and Research)
Constantly reflecting on our teaching practice and finding new ways to engage students is a priority at Brookes. Our staff participated in the BreakoutEDU to gain hands on experience of how to implement this in their classrooms.
A lot of fun was had by all staff involved and their competitive spirit tested till the end, as they just had to solve all the puzzles and BREAK-OUT! Well done to all participants and watch this space for many more fun learning activities.
