Sindhu Varrier has been in the educational field for 22 years and has been in International school education for the past 20 years. She earned both her Bachelor’s Degree in Education and Master’s Degree in Mathematics in India, her country of origin. While continuing her passion and enthusiasm for teaching Calculus, Sindhu has also trained students for international mathematics tournaments and Knowledge Bowl competitions.

As the secondary school Academic and College Counselor, she guided students as they successfully completed their Advanced Placement Courses. Holding the positions of SAT Coordinator and Advanced Placement Coordinator for nearly a decade, she effectively facilitated communication with the College Board to ensure students successfully took exams, enrolled in online AP courses not taught at the school, and transmitted results to universities and scholarship committees.

In her current role as Assistant Principal of the Brookes Saint Petersburg Campus, Sindhu strongly believes every child can learn when provided with appropriate level material and adequate support. As the challenges posed by technology and the demands for learners with 21st century skills overwhelm schools, her philosophy of effective leadership is simple: work to meet the needs of students, teachers, parents, staff, and community members. Meeting those needs requires the school leader to be knowledgeable, flexible, assertive, positive, a problem solver, and a proponent of continuous learning. These traits are essential to build and sustain a positive school culture that promotes academic rigour and respects the diversity of the school community.
